For the past few weeks, I've felt on the edge. Everything seemed to be an uphill climb with no end. I would seeminly get one situation under control, just to be railroaded by another. I can't count the hours I spent crying on my bedroom floor, or to my mother, or to good friends, wanting to have an answer to my grief but still feeling empty. I would be completely fine if those dark months were never repeated. I felt so low.
Now, I feel like something is coming. I should break into song from West Side Story.(I won't. My life isn't that dramatic.) I've had a rough couple of months. Summer ended and I fell into a kind of funk. I struggled with remembering what was most important to me. I couldn't remember that I was still the same person, even if life threw some intense curve balls. I keep thinking I can take on the world, but when the world is ready to bring it, I'm not. I fall apart.
Now, I feel like it is ready to turn around. I feel like suddenly I may be on top of the craziness that I call life. I'm ready to jump. I'm ready to take the plunge. I want something. I can't really put into words what I want, but this feeling just won't go away. I still have many things that I am lacking. I try and figure out how my attitude changed so much. I fully believe that those two months were a dark spot of which I had no control.
I may not be as eloquent as I would like, but all I have to say is "BRING IT! I'M READY!"
"Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves." -James M. Barrie

So I made a blog...
I finally caved. I made a blog. Here is my life, a snippet into the life of Jenny Hortin. My life of adventures and randomness:
20 Things About Yours Truly:
1- I'm a student at the University of Utah as an English major. I love to read books. I love the power of the written word and how it can take you to places that you could never experience alone.
2- I love the smell of coffee. I would never drink it, but just a sniff brings a smile to my face. I think it started in fourth grade with Mr. Duncan. He always had a mug of coffee on his desk. If I could sit and study in a coffeehouse for the rest of my college career, I would be such a happy girl.
3- I can't whistle. I have tried to learn since I was just a little girl. My mom always quotes "Just put your lips together and blow...." and alas, all that happens is an exhale.
4- I'm 22 years old and think that this year is starting out a little over-rated. I'm working on fixing it, but it still alludes me. One of these days.
5- I hate most green foods. Green vegetables especially.
6- I talk to myself, even when I am surrounded by thousands of people. Luckily, no one else pays any attention.
7- I give rockstar head massages.
8- I love watching the sky everyday. Doesn't matter if it is a sunrise, sunset, thunderstorm, or a sky full of stars.
9- I love the smell of starch on my freshly ironed pillow case.
10- My cellphone ringtone is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
11- I have an unhealthy obsession with peanut butter.
12- I have lived in Utah my entire life and have never been skiing or snowboarding, but I'll jump on a sled or go snowshoeing first chance I get.
13- I associate songs with people.
14- I do a mad "shopping cart."
15- Drinking soda gives me the hiccups. Never fails.
16- My first time riding Colossus was August 1, 2009.
17- My shins tell the stories of my adventures through scars.
18- A big pet peeve of mine is when someone walks past with their collar messed up. I start to fidget uncontrollably.
19- My all time favorite flower is a gerber daisy, but tulips and roses come close.
20- I like to drive with one foot on the seat, driving automatic of course.
21- Taking a shower clears my head.
22- H&M is the greatest invention! It is a good thing there isn't one in Utah, because it would steal all my money.
23- I choose mountains before beach.
24- I really don't have personal boundaries. People think I do, but I really don't. Go ahead, get in my face. Bring it.
25- I love hugs!!!
26- My favorite colors are green and pink. But I like the whole rainbow.
27- A goal in life is to drive a golf cart. I don't have to go golfing, I just want to drive the cart.
28- I consider myself hardcore. So does my mother.
29- Give me a starburst and a candle and we've got a party.
30- My new favorite treat is the M&M salad: take a bag of every kind of M&M and throw them in a big bowl. Then mix them all together and ENJOY! Mmmmmm......
Just a preview- I have amazing friends. I think you should be one.
